Knightdale -- The Business Expo will be a showcase of area businesses, and already 100 businesses have registered to participate.

The Expo will take place at Knightdale High School, 100 Bryan Chalk Lane, June 19 from 2-7 p.m., and will feature new and traditional businesses that call Knightdale and the surrounding area home.

The Expo is sponsored annually by the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce.

Knightdale Chamber Executive Director Jennifer Bryan called the Expo a one-stop shop.

Of course, there will be the many booths with representatives from businesses.

Knightdale town planners will be available to discuss the latest development plans for the town.

And elected officials will be on hand to hear from residents.

Bryan said the Expo's purpose is twofold.

It helps businesses with leadership development. Seminars will be held throughout the day on improving marketing and networking skills and hiring. In addition, a Small Business Administration representative will be available.

The Expo also shows the consumer what the area has to offer, said Bryan.

There will be a contest for exhibitors. They will be vying for the most creative booth, the most colorful booth and the most effective display.

Mike Wheless, of WQDR, WTVD's Tim Nelson and Kim Genardo, the NBC 17 political reporter, will be attending.

Bryan expects about 1,200 people to attend.

About 25 of the chamber’s ambassadors helped plan the event.

"It is really a good way to meet face to face with all the business owners in town and see what they do; the products and services they offer," said Bryan.

Admission to the event is free for visitors.
